Choose 1 From 2 Contradicting Beliefs?

When I was growing up I was exposed to 2 kinds of teaching about divine healing. The first one was "ask God relentlessly, and do something to please Him (or at least to corner Him with our goodness)" that sometimes sounded like we needed to "twist" God's hand. And the 2nd one which I subscribed to was "ask God but don't force Him" since this one sounded more polite & more logical to me as at the end of the day I learnt that God is sovereign, we couldn't push or force Him, we respect His decision...sometimes He heals, sometimes He doesn't.

Those were two opposing polars for me to choose from, and somehow I could relate well about the contradiction, both polars had their own ground of reasoning.

At the end I saw that though they contradict each other, they have some similarity. Do you notice what I noticed?

They both actually come from the same reasoning that "it's not always God's will to heal". The different is in the response, one thinks & says, "Since it might not God's will to heal, we have to convince Him by doing something good or promising Him something to please Him. He'll then consider our goodness & reward us, or at least He'll feel obliged to do something in return. Anyway He is just." The other thinks & says, "God is sovereign & we have to respect His sovereignty. We can only plead to Him. I'm not sure what His will is, but let's see if He does it for me or not."

Just because we don't agree with the one, doesn't mean that the other polar's more correct. How if we change our mind to see God's will in His words rather than taking conclusion from our sight, thought, experience & even what we've learnt religiously?

How if we let God's words interpret our mind rather than our mind interpret God's words? If we pray for someone & that person don't seem to be healed does it mean that's not God's will to heal that person? If it is so does it mean that it's not God's will for Peter to walk on water just because he started to sink? (Matthew 14:30). But, no, Jesus asked Peter to walked to Him on water, this is His will. The fact that Peter sank doesn't mean that it's not Jesus' will for Peter to walk on water.

Or just because Adam & Eve (and mankind) fell does it mean it's God's will for mankind to fall? Yet, we know that He told Adam not to partake from the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good & evil (Genesis 2:17). How do you see His will? In the fact or in His words?

I'm always amazed by how God's word destroys some of my "Christian's beliefs".

Yes He's sovereign, and in His sovereignty the Bible says in Psalm 103:3 (NKJV) "Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases". So what is God's will in healing? Is it something uncertain?

How about in Isaiah 53:5 "By His stripes we are healed"? Check out the original words if that refers to physical healing too or only for soul?

Jesus' disciples couldn't heal a boy in Mark 9:18-19, does it mean that's not Jesus' will to heal then? What's His response in the Bible? If we needed God's permission to get His healing, how come Jesus didn't know who the bleeding woman who was eventually healed just by touching His garment? Why didn't He give permission first to that woman before she even got healed? (Matthew 9:20–22, Mark 5:25–34, Luke 8:43–48).

Perhaps we need to be secure of His will and learn to stand on it. How about God's will that Jesus mentioned, "Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven"? (Matthew 6:10) Faith means to agree with His will, and our agreement with Him manifests Heaven on our earth? (Matthew 16:19)

How if we as sons & daughters of God in Christ are already given the authority to do His will, and what we need is to use & practice it? Is there any "failure" here? It's like any other process, there's always time to grow...and it's a good news, we don't get stuck to where we are. Even Jesus' disciples & many apostles were in the process.

What we need to do is just to learn. We don't need to feel condemned when we fail as God doesn't condemn us, but He trains & empower us...yes, sometimes there's "mystery" involved, but it's the part of training in trusting God, knowing who we're & walking together with Him. Imagine a baby learns to walk, he might stumble, but he doesn't dwell in guilty feeling in his stumbling or meditate too much in his "failure"...he'll just joyfully get up & learn to walk again knowing his loving parents is always there for him. One day he walks like everyone else.

John 14:12 "Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father." And God's way is about loving on people, not about threatening people...no pressure. Jesus came to save. There's nothing to qualify His blessings, they can freely receive (if they want to - this is the only requirement).

We had a good time in Made's Warung , Seminyak - Bali during RFIU Asia Alumni training last December 2019. What a cozy place, yummy food with wonderful staffs, and fun live music. We also witnessed some healing there too, some were caught in camera - https://youtu.be/383YYag9wYs

It's really not about "we are better than you" kind of attitude, if you're the son & daughter of God in Christ, you can do what Jesus says you can do where ever you are (I hope by now you see that His will is in His words), and no one can boast as everything we have is by His grace (undeserved favour), and we received it by faith. We all can learn & grow in the renewing of mind.

Meanwhile, let me know (direct message's ok too) if anyone needs prayers. God loves you more than you realise it.
